E-Learning: a new challenge
An example of best practice to share
with our European school partners

E-Learning can become a new way of teaching/learning

as far as it is considered a new resource and an educational tool

that can be well integrated in the traditional syllabus.

" Many current instructional models suggest that

the most effective learning environments are those that are PROBLEM-based

and involve the student in 4 distinct phases of learning:

  1. ACTIVATION

  2. DEMONSTRATION

  3. APPLICATION

  4. INTEGRATION

( M. David Merrill, First Principles of Instruction, Utah State University, 2001)

Definition of PROBLEM:

OUR problem was :

I STEP of our activity:

The teacher presented the "problem", followed by a discussion in class about

ACTIVATION

Definition of activation:

II STEP: discussion in class about

DEMONSTRATION

Definition of demonstration:

III STEP:

APPLICATION

Definition of application:

IV STEP

The class was divided into groups and they worked in the Computer Lab,
using
search engines in order to find sites linked to the Reggio Preschools.
These sites appear as external links in our final project.

The plan of the site was definitely built and
it consisted of about 25 different pages connected each other.
Since it is a hypermedia, each text contains hot words inside it.

Each group wrote at least a page of the site in English and
some groups put images, chose the background, the heading, the hot words.
The software used was a simplified version of Microsoft Frontpage (Frontpage Express).

INTEGRATION

Definition of integration:

V STEP:

The students involved had the opportunity to show their final product to the headmaster,
to teachers of their class or other classes as well as to students of different classes.

CONCLUSION

Our learning objectives were also:
